Thank You Volunteers!

Thank you to all the Madison family members who volunteer to help the Madison community throughout the year!   Thank you to those people who assist teachers with chaperone duties and help in the classroom, and thank you to everyone who responds to the PTO’s requests as well!  Last year we used volunteer assistance to speak with families at open house, make Madison merchandise available throughout the year, help manage Honor Roll assemblies, host Just Desserts, offer three Staff Appreciation lunches, re-shelve text books, chaperone sixth and seventh grade Activity Day, decorate for 8th grade promotion ceremony, help collect and turn in money for school-run events, and MORE!  During the 2016-17 school year, Madison hopes to build the volunteer presence in classrooms and on campus—let’s be part of that.  Thank you!

Where does the money go?

Every fall the PTO raises funds through cookie dough sales. This money touches every student and staff member on our Madison campus, and Madison families as well.  Take a look, and please be part of keeping the good works going by supporting PTO fundraisers or making a donation.

Provide stipends to each department to support learning.   The PTO gives money to the science, math, language arts, social studies, electives, and special education departments to purchase supplies and books, put toward field trips, pay speakers, provide student incentives—get what they need.  Additionally, representatives from other areas of the school, such as the health room, will occasionally make a special request for assistance, and the PTO is able to help.

Support families in need. We support the counseling department in their effort to give to families during the holidays, and have helped other families as needed on request. Madison IS a family, and when we work together, we make that family strong.

Help students have fun! The student council organizes dances throughout the year, and the PTO is always happy to supply refreshments—FREE OF CHARGE—so our kids can let loose, have fun, and enjoy the dance.

Recognize Achievement.  On the afternoon of Honor Roll Assemblies, the PTO hosts “Just Desserts,” which gives kids special recognition and time to celebrate their academic success with their peers.  The PTO also purchases the honor roll bumper stickers that are distributed to students who make honor roll.

Host Staff Appreciation events.  Every year the PTO works together to celebrate our fabulous staff and thank them for being part of the Madison community. We budget a small amount of money to fund three lunches (or breakfasts) throughout the year and one evening meal just for custodial staff.  That, along with many donations and volunteers, shows our staff that we appreciate all they do for our kids!

Support National Junior Honor Society.  The PTO pays the annual dues for this wonderful service organization that recognizes bright, conscientious kids.

Campus Beautification.   The PTO helps keep our campus safe and clean.  For example, we supported the custodial department by purchasing heavy-duty, secured trash receptacles.

Decorations!  The PTO purchases the decorations used at the 8th Grade Promotion ceremony, and helps the student council with decorations for their dances as needed.

Recognize Staff. The PTO likes to recognize retiring staff members or those who move on to other ventures with a thank you gift before they go.  It is always sad to say good bye, but nice to wish people the best of luck.  The PTO also helps the MAGIC committee in their efforts to recognize staff throughout the year, and assists as needed with door prizes for the staff holiday party.

Help with Testing. The PTO has provides  testing supplies, such as sanitizing hand wipes and facial tissue, for use in the computer labs during standardized testing weeks.

Madison PTO Mission Statement

Our mission is to enhance the quality of education our students receive by providing funds for field trips, after school programs, class room supplies and equipment, improvements to school grounds, and to supply other educational materials; all the while, trying to improve and expand communication, boost school spirit, and promote the school curriculum and activities. While  fundraising is essential, we also get the amazing opportunity to plan/host fun events, help those in need, and show our kids that we care about their school and about their education.
