Please take time to complete the Online Pre-Registration this summer at Mystudent.aps.edu. Watch our website (madison.aps.edu) for Campus Registration dates for early August.
You Will Need to Bring: 

* 2 Proofs of in-district address (current Gas Co., PNM bill, Driver's Lic., rental / buyer agreement) OR... Transfer ~ Family Living with Family / Friends (current notarized form)
* Birth Certificate (only new student to APS)
* Transcript / Grades (only new student to APS) 
* Immunization Records
* Legal forms (custody, restraining, guardianship, etc. if applicable)

 

 

Albuquerque Public Schools has launched the new Online Registration through your ParentVue account and we are asking families to pre-register now.

If you have never used ParentVUE, it is a great tool to check your students’

  • Grades
  • Assignments  
  • Attendance  
  • Calendars
    AND it is also a great way to make contact and communicate with teachers.

To get your ParentVue account go to enroll.aps.edu or contact the school.

  • Once you are logged in, click on the “MESSAGE” box from the column of options.
    This will open the Online Registration portal and should take about 15 minutes to complete.
     
  • At the beginning of each school year, we will ask you to login AGAIN to verify that the information we have on record is up-to-date.
     

If you do not have access to the Internet, computers will be available at Madison May 8th – May 18th. Please call 299-4735 to schedule a time, so we can be sure to have someone available to assist you.

In light of the horrific school shooting in Florida this week, we have received numerous calls and emails from concerned parents and guardians wanting to know what measures APS takes to keep its students and staff safe.

As Superintendent Reedy stated in a message posted to APS website and social media sites, all schools were asked to review their site safety plans which include detailed instructions for a host of possible emergency situations including an active shooter on campus. 

Here is some information we can share about how we address school safety:

· Our school safety plan includes site-specific instructions relevant to Madison, based on the design and layout of our building.

· We are required  to practice lockdown, shelter-in-place and evacuation drills according to our site-specific plan during the school year.  We have already had a lockdown drill and a shelter-in-place drill this year.  We will be practicing an evacuation drill at the end of this month.  

· In all emergency scenarios, we remind our students and staff to be responsive and follow the directions of all public safety responders.

· Fortunately for APS, we have our own Police Department that works closely with the Albuquerque Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. We have a Campus Security Aid assigned to  our school, and we have field officers who respond to incidences as well.

· Any time a student or staff member sees a suspicious person on campus or encounters a person who is being disruptive, they are asked to contact a police or safety officer or administrator.

· Visitors to our school are expected to check in at the front office and wear a visitor’s badge while on campus.  All staff and students are also required to wear ID badges while on campus.  This allows us to easily identify those folks that belong and those that don't.  

· We have over 25 security cameras on the Madison campus.

· We take seriously every threat or rumor of a threat to students, staff or school. We conduct immediate investigations, including student searches, and take disciplinary action when necessary.

· We do not discuss disciplinary actions because we are required by law to protect the privacy of all students, including students who may have made threats. However, we can say that students who make threats face disciplinary action that could include suspension and/or expulsion.

· Anyone who hears of a possible threat to a school is encouraged to contact a school administrator or police. The APS Police Department can be reached at 505-243-7712.

We all have a role to play in ensuring our schools continue to be a safe place for learning, and it is incumbent on all of us to be vigilant and supportive of one another. Remember, if you see or hear something, say something. You can contact APS School Police at 505-243-7712.

Soccer and Track & Field

Practice information!!

Soccer

      Practice will be on Tuesday Feb. 27th and Wednesday Feb. 28th 3:15-5:00pm. 

Next week practice will be on:

Tuesday Mar. 6th            3:15-5:00pm.

Wednesday Mar. 7th      3:15-5:00pm.

Thursday Mar. 8th          3:15-5:00pm.

Please dress appropriately for practices and bring a water bottle

Track & Field

        Practice will begin on Monday Feb 26th.  Report to the gym 3:15-5:00 pm.  Please make sure you dress appropriately for the weather and bring a water bottle.

 

As always make sure you have a completed APS physical on file or ready to be turned in on Monday.  All athletes must have a 2.0 with no more than 1 ‘F’ for the first semester.

Winter and Spring Athletics

Attention to all students who are thinking about trying out for any Winter or Spring sports.  You must finish the first semester with a 2.0 GPA, with no more than one ‘F’ in order to tryout for Girls Basketball, Track & Field and Boys and Girls Soccer.  First semester ends on Friday, December 15th

 

You also must have an APS physical packet completed by the start of tryouts for the sport.

 

Girls basketball:  Tryouts for 6th, 7th and 8th graders can begin on Monday Jan 8thAll physicals for this tryout must be submitted on Friday, January 5th.  No exceptions!!!!  Please take time to sign up in the main office.  Grades will be checked by the Athletic Director.

 

Track & Field: Tryouts for 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls and boys can begin on Monday, February 26th.  Sign ups for T&F will be in the main office the first week of January. All physicals for this tryout must be submitted on Friday, February 23rd.  No exceptions!!!! Please listen to announcements for further information.

As you know the Madison main gym is under a major renovation so all PE classes and athletic activities must use the newly renovated auxiliary gym.  Also, APS Athletics revised our program so that the A & B boys teams will play in the fall and then the A & B girls teams will start in Jan.  That being said, along with hiring two new coaches and dealing with the logistics of having over 70 kids trying out in our Aux gym, we had to delay the start of our boys’ basketball tryouts.  Our new coaches are Brandon Heckroth-A team and John Siedlecki-B team.

 

After meeting with our new coaches, we have come up with a tryout schedule that will best meet our needs.

 

Friday Oct 20th        

All 6th and 7th grade boys tryouts. Cuts will be made at the end of this tryout.

Monday Oct 23rd    

7th graders asked to come back and all 8th graders.  Cuts will be made at the end of this tryout.

Tuesday Oct 24th   

6th, 7th and 8th grade boys ask to come back.  Cuts may be made at the end of this tryout.

 

Tryouts will start at 3:20 in the Auxiliary gym and run till 5:30pm.  Boys are to change into their practice clothes in the main hallway bathroom.  Any food should be eaten outside of the gym and only water bottles will be allowed in the gym.  No sports drinks are allowed in the gym.

 

Tryouts are closed to all spectators.  Parents should pick their student/athlete up promptly at 5:30.   We cannot leave students unattended in the parking lot and our coaches need to get home to their families as well.

 

All students who wish to tryout must have completed an APS physical form and either have turned them into the office already or bring with them to the first day of tryouts.  The athletic director will be checking grades for the first 9 weeks.  All students who tryout must have a 2.0 with no more than one ‘F’.
